Video Segment of Boonie & his Trainer

Educate our Kids & Prepare them for WHAT to do, should they find a gun.

Boonie the Sheepdog & his Trainer

The Boonie Project

Additional Information

A useful tool in educating our youth has been through our Mascot, Boonie.  Boonie the Sheepdog has been adopted by Boondocks Firearms Training Academy™ to help them share a simple message of what to do should you come across a gun.  This program is geared to Pre-K thru 4th Grade Children.  We have found by keeping it simple, memorable and fun, kids learn and share this information with their friends and family.  We have yet to find a venue that Kids of ALL AGES don't flock to meet Boonie. He's approachable as well as knowledgeable on gun safety.

Boonie's trainer aids in teaching the message to the kids while Boonie acts out the message.  It doesn't take long for the message to be received and BOWWOWZA... we have another Boonie Buddy!

Boonie Buddy receives a backpack filled with items to help them share the message with their friends. The Foundation provides a custom short story coloring book, colors, drinking cup, stretchy bracelet and more all emphasizing the message of what to do if they find a gun.

Fun for the Whole Family

Additional Information

This half-day course incorporates the entire family and teaches both parents and children how to safely include a firearm as part of a home protection plan. The class also introduces modern techniques to safely store firearms in the home, while still having quick access to them in case of an emergency.  Children also learn how to respond if they find themselves in a situation where they or their friends find a "hidden" firearm in their home, or the home of a friend.  After a short classroom session, the kids head to the range with certified firearms instructors and learn how to be safe and have fun on the range. Parents soon follow and get a chance to join their children on the range for a little family firearms fun shoot.
